Young and Dramatic

The mysterious Young and Dramatic play sedative songs in English, in which it is impossible to establish a group’s residence permit. Such a sad-lurk music is now being recorded 20-year-olds in Oslo, Lids, and in Bryansk. On the eve of the St. Petersburg and Moscow concerts of the group, we asked Young and Dramatic to tell about ourselves in 10 photographs: it turned out that they were from Minsk, and the history of the evolution of the project-from “Song for Pivasik” to Internet popularity and concerts from “Jesus of Donetsk Black Metal”-a typical story of a young indie group of the 2015 model.

We started playing six years ago. Fortune immediately smiled at us in the person of the only music studio in our almost outskirts of Minsk. She smiled rather condescendingly, well, it is understandable: the point was occupied by the guys for 30 different degrees of patents, who played mainly something in the range from the nude-metal to the folk metala. Yes, and my brother showed me the point, who then played in the Nude-Metal-group. The place, I must say, is absolutely wonderful. The admins first looked at us, clearly restraining laughter, but then we somehow became their favorites, and they jumped under our songs worse than Mika Jagger under the spaces. In my memory, this is the only studio where you could record a song for 30 bucks and reduce it for a beer.

A couple of years passed, and we decided to change our Pankovskaya point and try something new. Indie-rock turned out to be this new for us then, and my faithful comrade and part-time Basist Nikita thought that it would be great to find someone else who plays such music. At one forum there was a guy who claimed that he was practicing Dramming. We called him to the team, and he turned out to be an avid fan of Led Zeppelin , so he adopted from their drummer with almost one hundred percent accuracy, except for the game on drums. So we lost almost six months and performed the first and last time. Usually, the first performance of unknown teams takes place in some “dug” club for 50 people, whom you are invited to beg to buy tickets, but we had everything differently: we had to play in the park on the open-air stage at the birthday of one wealthy acquaintance. And here something did not understand at all: when we went on stage and began to play, we were surprised to find the Gow-Gow dancers from behind. I must say, our music was not particularly cheerful, so the poor (and pale - there was a rather cold September) The young ladies simply did not know what movements could be done at all. In the middle of the concert, the birthday man came up and asked to play something a little more fun.

Pretty soon, Indie rock tired us, and we discovered Midvest-Sobo and Mat Rok-Well: Color , this Town Needs Guns , American Football and all this music with guitars, to which it is absolutely impossible to dance and not look like a sucker. The songs were written according to the secret rule "the more complicated, the better." I had on the guitar system for every song, so perestroika occupied most of the concert - in general, it was rotten.

All the time that I played in groups, I wrote songs in parallel to the acoustics borrowed from Nikita. Once I got sick exactly on my birthday, and my parents bought a sound card for me, "so that he would quickly recover." How quickly I got better, I don’t remember, but the card came in handy.

At some point, I decided to lay out what I wrote down at home, under a rather dubious name Young and Dramatic . And somehow it went and went. Gradually, the music began to diverge on the Internet. At that time, I was still playing in the mat rock-team, but her days were numbered, and she completely predictably broke up. Then Nikita and I began to think about the fact that it would be worth gathering a team and playing Young and Dramatic songs, but the search for musicians stretched for almost six months. At one time, the drummer Dima from Donetsk even played with us, who was nicknamed "Jesus of Donetsk Black-Meutal." Dima was also legendary in that he played in Donetsk with the “metal corrosion” itself.

Last summer, we began to record the album. This is a very costly business in time and means. The album came out quite “Garyezhbendovsky” - all these songs were almost played on the record with the whole team; All parties except Bas (Nikita does not trust me), I came up with at home or somewhere on the road and wrote down on an iPhone, and then learned at home. As a result, we recorded the album together with Nikita, except that the drums were helped by our friend Vic from the Minsk team Enau . The reduction then stretched for so long that by the time the album was already ready, we almost hated it.

After the recording, we finally found the beautiful drummer Roma and the brilliant taper Seryoga. Even in the recording process, we understood that all this would sound differently. In addition, we rehearsed (and rehearse) at such a pankovo ​​point that it is a sin to play something without turning on overdrave. Here it is worth stopping and telling a little more about this place. Here you come to this closet in a half -abandoned building, and immediately I want to play either Cloud Nothings , or Touché Amoré , or read rap. Amazing power place. I have never seen this anywhere.

Last winter, we went to our first tour. We almost never drank at that time. We liked it.

Very soon, already next week, we are moving to St. Petersburg and Moscow again. Unfortunately, Seryoga-Clawer will not be able to go with us this time, but Serega-guitarist will come with us, with whom we began to play rock music at the very point where you could write down the song for 30 bucks and reduce it for the beer. We will play many new tracks from the second album, which we plan to start recording upon return.
