The court of the city of Berezovsky Sverdlovsk region fined the local activist, the head of the public organization “Our Choice” by Vladimir Timin, ten thousand rubles for the action against the abolition of the election of the head of the city.
The action was held on October 18. Timin insisted that, in accordance with local laws, he has the right to hold an event involving less than a hundred people in a specially designated place without notifying local authorities. Nevertheless, the court considered that he committed “a violation by the organizer of the public event of the established procedure for organizing or holding a meeting, rally, demonstration, procession or picket” (part 1 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).
The defense of Timin intends to appeal the decision in the regional court, writes in Livejournal a local resident Sergey Rudyuk.
