Michael Vedel will present Robert Wine in Pioneer

On November 30, in the cinema "Pioneer" in Moscow, a show of Robert's Wine "Hands of Orlak" (1924) will be displayed in Moscow. The picture will be presented by the historian of German cinema, professor of the Higher School of Cinema and Television. Konrad Wolf in Babelsberg Michael Vedel.

“Orlac's Hands” ( Orlac's Hände ) - a film adaptation of the novel by Maurice Renar about the pianist, who lost both hands in the railway disaster and to whom the surgeons transplant the hands of a guillotized killer.

The film was set in 1924 by director Robert Wine, who invited the outstanding actor Konrad Faidt, who in his film “Cabinet of Dr. Caligari” ( Das Cabinet Des Dr. Caligari ) played the role of somnambula Cesare.

Expressionism in the acting game is combined in the film with the achievements of a realistically accurate psychological "Kammershpil". The operators Gunter Krampf and Hans Androshin using the light -painting (alternating bright and dark zones inside the same frame, light accents on the face and hands of the eagle, the game of shadows) masterfully created the tense atmosphere of action, which conveys the growing fear of the pianist before the instinct of murder, allegedly awakened by other hands.

The film will be shown from a 35-mm film in the musical accompaniment of Philip Cheltsov.
