On November 27, the first regional competition for the best project on electrical safety and energy efficiency, organized on the initiative of the branch of IDGC of Center - Belgorodenergo, the Department of Education of the region with the support of BSTU named after, ended in Belgorod. V.G. Shukhova. About 50 students from grades 1-11, who won at the municipal district level, took part in the regional stage.

In-person defense of creative and research projects took place at the Energy Institute. The guys presented to the public and a competent jury consisting of university teachers, power engineers and representatives of the education department their own models and layouts, theoretical developments, as well as projects aimed at popularizing the ideas of energy saving and electrical safety among the population through posters, videos, booklets, leaflets, multimedia products and etc.

Director of the Energy Institute Alexander Belousov, opening the competition, promised that the experts would not be very critical of the projects presented, but at the same time would try to discern the potential that would help the children become students in the future. Participation in such events contributes to the formation of a decent portfolio and the acquisition of benefits when entering a university.

The theme of the competition is not accidental. A careful and competent attitude towards electricity, which is a powerful force and an absolute blessing, will protect life, and the reasonable use of energy will save money and preserve the earth's resources for future generations.

Everyone approached the project in their own way. For example, third-graders of school No. 27 in Stary Oskol, Ksenia Kichkina and Alexey Ivanov, were preoccupied with the question: why does the riddle about a light bulb say “a pear is hanging - you can’t eat it”? Under the mentorship of their teachers I. Maksimenko and D. Ivanova, they began to understand, compare, and conduct experiments.

Eighth-grader Eduard Motaev from Ladomirovskaya Secondary School, Rovensky District, conducted a comparative analysis of the effectiveness of replacing school desktop computers with more economical and mobile laptops.

And Ilya Sorokaletov, a student at the Bekhteevskaya secondary school in the Volokonovsky district, spoke about a whole series of extracurricular activities on energy efficiency organized at his school. This included quizzes and instructional lessons, virtual tours of information portals and creative workshops.

“By organizing the competition, we wanted schoolchildren not only to think about the problems of electrical safety and energy saving, but also to share their achievements, conclusions and discoveries with friends, parents, and classmates. Today we saw how talented our children are, what enormous potential is hidden in them. Some participants were able to really surprise the jury with the depth of their analysis of the chosen topic and a wide range of evidence-based tools. All projects are unique in their own way and, of course, deserve everyone’s attention,” said Anna Udovichenko, head of the public relations department.

Representatives of the competition jury are confident that the children’s work will be practically implemented and will bring real benefits to their educational institutions. And, in addition, they will become an excellent launching pad for the schoolchildren themselves - potential students of BSTU. V.G. Shukhova.

The award ceremony for the winners will take place at the central office of Belgorodenergo at the end of December.
