The North Caucasus District Military Court sentenced two students of the Stavropol State Medical Academy and four other people to terms of five to seven years in a general regime colony, finding them guilty of promoting terrorism, reports . Interfax

Sultan Yahyev and another defendant, Musayev, were also found guilty of illegal possession of weapons. The first received seven years in prison, the rest received sentences of five to six years.

As Aminat Aliyeva, the sister of one of the accused, Magomed Aliyev, told Mediazona, the young man was sentenced to five years in prison. Earlier, Aminat Aliyeva reported that all six defendants in the case were forced to ask for a special procedure for considering the case in court, that is, without examining the evidence. According to her, the accused were put under pressure and were also taken out of the detention center.

According to investigators, students of the Stavropol Medical Academy Yakhyev and Aliyev and other defendants were members of the “jamaat” and propagated the idea of ​​the Islamic State group banned in Russia to create a global caliphate. The prosecution alleged that the young people recruited Russians to participate on the side of the group in the armed conflict in Syria. The young people united in the “jamaat” in the spring of 2013, and in 2013-2014 they convinced four more people to join the group, the prosecution believes.

According to the case file, Yakhyev and Musayev purchased two pistols, a revolver, cartridges, grenades and an improvised explosive device.

Yakhyev and Aliyev are students of the Stavropol State Medical Academy. At the end of last year, after Aliyev was detained and arrested, he was operated on : a pen was pulled out of his eye, which, as they claimed in the pre-trial detention center, Aliyev had stuck in himself. At the time of the incident, Aliyev was the only person involved in the case who did not admit guilt.

Aliyev’s sister said that her brother was not receiving medical care: he needed a neurologist and an ophthalmologist.
