In Karelia, a criminal case was opened against a priest who hit a 53-year-old woman with his car, under Part 4 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles by a person in a state of intoxication, and negligently resulting in the death of a person), reports the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for republic.
The priest was released on his own recognizance.

Today, at about eight in the morning, a 35-year-old priest from Petrozavodsk, being drunk and driving his Skoda Fabia, hit a woman who was crossing the road at an unregulated pedestrian crossing. The accident occurred at the exit from Lesnoy Prospekt to the Drevlyanskoye Ring.
The woman died on the spot.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a few minutes before this accident, the priest was involved in another accident, but disappeared: on Lesnoy Avenue he collided with two cars moving in his lane.
During interrogation at the Petrozavodsk Ministry of Internal Affairs, the priest claimed that he had drunk alcohol the day before. In addition to the criminal case against the priest, two reports of administrative offenses were drawn up: under Article 12.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (driving a vehicle while intoxicated) and 12.27 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (failure to fulfill duties in connection with an accident). They will be considered by the magistrate court.
According to Flashnord, the deceased is Maria Zhulyabina, who worked in the IT park of Petrozavodsk State University. She would have turned 54 in December.
