In the Kostroma region, a court sentenced a former police officer to four years in a general regime colony for raping a girl with a mental illness, the Investigative Committee reports .
The ex-policeman was found guilty of rape (Part 1 of Article 131 of the Criminal Code) and sexual assault (Part 1 of Article 132 of the Criminal Code).
According to investigators, on July 3 this year, the policeman was drinking alcohol in the apartment of his friends, where there was also a 24-year-old girl who had been declared incompetent.
“Realizing that the woman, due to her mental illness, could not offer any resistance and was in a helpless state, the attacker committed crimes against the sexual integrity of the victim,” the Investigative Committee said in a statement.
As Rossiyskaya Gazeta writes , after the rape the policeman spent the night at the girl’s house. The girl's relatives reported the incident to the police.
The convict served in the police regiment for the protection of public order during public events of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Moscow Region, but he was originally from Kostroma and spent his vacation in the city. He was fired from the authorities after the incident.
