Aleksievich handed Savchenko her books and a letter of support

The Belarusian writer, Laureate of the Nobel Prize Svetlana Aleksievich through the Embassy of Ukraine in Minsk handed over her books and a letter of support for the Ukrainian pilot Nadezhda Savchenko. It is reported by TUT.BY.

“I am delighted with hope. This is a person who defended his homeland, a real soldier,” said Aleksievich. “She became a symbol of the Ukrainian people, the Ukrainian Jeannia d'Arc.”

The writer asked the Ukrainian diplomats to transfer Savchenko his books “The War has NOT FIRST FIRST”, “ZINKI boys” and “Chernobyl prayer”. Aleksievich said that she read the book of the Ukrainian pilot transmitted to her at the end of November “The Strong Name”, written in prison.

“I understand that this is a political process. It all depends on the international conjuncture: hope can simply be released or exchange. It all depends on the geopolitical situation,” Aleksievich said.

“Sooner or later, Ukraine will be free,” said the Nobel Laureate. “But I would really like it to be achieved by little blood. It all depends on the courage of individuals. The horror of the authoritarian system is not in hard leaders, but in small executioners from the people who serve this regime. And it is very important that people like hope of Savchenko are opposed.”

On October 8, Aleksievich became the Laureate of the Nobel Prize in literature for 2015 "for its polyphonic creativity - a monument to suffering and courage in our time." The award ceremony will be held on December 10.

At a press conference, which Aleksievich gave immediately after the news of the award of the award, she called Russia policy in Ukraine by occupation. “There are people who are unhappy with what was and wanted changes, but they would never have fought,” the writer remarked. “They would find another way of change.”

Press Secretary of Vladimir Putin Dmitry Peskov commented on the replica Aleksievich: "Apparently, Svetlana simply does not have all the information in order to give a positive assessment of what is happening in Ukraine."

In the Donetsk City Court of the Rostov Region, hearing in the Savchenko case continues. She faces up to 25 years in the colony. According to the accusation, Savchenko, after the start of Russian aggression in Ukraine, who served in the Aidar volunteer battalion, on June 17, 2014 handed over the coordinates for artillery shelling to the battalion, as a result of which the VGTRK employees Igor Korneluk and Anton Voloshin died. It is also argued that in the future Savchenko illegally entered the territory of Russia, where she was detained.

In reality, Savchenko was captured by the militants of the LPR even before shelling, during which Korneluk and Voloshin were killed, and was illegally taken to Russia, where the case was fabricated against her.
