UK decides to start bombing ISIS

The House of Commons of the British Parliament voted to begin bombing the positions of the Islamic State (an organization recognized as terrorist in Russia and banned) in Syria. The UK will join an international coalition led by the US. We are talking only about an air operation - the British do not plan to use ground forces.

The decision to launch air strikes was supported by 397 deputies, 223 voted against. The debate in parliament lasted for 10 hours.

British Prime Minister David Cameron made a proposal to join the coalition in parliament. He called IS militants "medieval monsters" and said the operation against the terrorists would help ensure Britain's security.

British aviation will begin operations in Syria as soon as possible - it is assumed that the first flights could take place as early as December 3.

• On December 1, the German government announced its decision to join the coalition against IS. The Germans are planning to send Tornado reconnaissance aircraft, tanker aircraft, a large anti-submarine ship and up to 1,200 personnel to the Middle East.
