During work in eastern Ukraine, many soldiers asked me to photograph them as a keepsake. I photographed and sent the resulting pictures to the people who are depicted on them, their children, wives, friends. Every day we see different photos “as a keepsake” on the Internet. But what is the story of a photograph of a person who has gone to the front?
Dry data on the number of dead no longer touch people much, these are statistics. But when you see a face, you know about the circumstances and the place of death, which after that happened with relatives and friends-everything is perceived in a completely different way.
And the most important thing that the soldiers in these photographs fought on these photographs, this story is always repeated to all of them, and all this happens in every war, which, as always, decides nothing, but only brings death and destruction.
