Metrojet airline has suspended flights

Metrojet Airlines (formerly Kogalymavia) has suspended flights due to the closure of tourist destinations to Egypt and Turkey. As a company representative told Vedomosti, the entire flight crew went on paid leave.

The company hopes to resume flights when new tourist destinations are developed.

The airline operated its last flight on November 25, reports Gazeta.ru . The last flight from Domodedovo, where Metrojet is based, was made on 20 November.

• Russia canceled air communication with Egypt on November 6. This happened after the crash of the Metrojet A321 passenger plane in the Sinai Peninsula, which killed 224 people. The FSB ruled that a terrorist attack was the cause of the disaster.
• After the A321 crash, Rostransnadzor began checking the Metrojet airline. On December 3, the agency said it found no serious violations.
• Russian tour operators refused to charter flights and sell tours to Turkey after November 24, when a Russian Su-24 was shot down by a Turkish fighter.
