Poland may request NATO about the placement of nuclear weapons on its territory

Poland considers the possibility of contacting NATO with a request to place nuclear weapons on its territory, according to the British newspaper The Guardian with reference to the deputy Minister of Defense Tomash Shatkovsky. If the decision is made, dozens of tactical bombs may appear near the border of Russia.

The official said that the Ministry of Defense has a discussion about Poland’s accession to the Nuclear Exchange program, which allows you to place nuclear weapons provided by the United States in the country. The decision is designed to strengthen the country's defense capacity, he stressed.

With reference to the Polish publications, The Guardian indicates that this was the first time when the Polish Ministry of Defense indicated the country's desire to participate in the program.

Among 28 NATO countries are three nuclear powers - the USA, France and Great Britain. Only the United States provide its weapons as part of the Nuclear Exchange program. Currently, Belgium, Germany, Holland, Italy and Türkiye joined it. Within the framework of the "exchange", these countries also participate in the discussion of the policy of the alliance in the field of nuclear weapons and provide their bases for capable of carrying nuclear bombs of aircraft.
