The head of Rosturism Oleg Safonov denies the existence of real estate in the African state of Seychelles. The official made such a statement in an interview with Echo of Moscow. “I had real estate there,” Safonov said. “But it has already been sold.”
Earlier on Monday, the expert of the Corruption Foundation Lyubov Sobol noticed on her Facebook page that, according to the official declaration of Safonov, published on the Rostourism website, the official belongs to two houses in the Seychelles: one with an area of 170 square meters, the other - 368 square meters. “Yes, they consider us fools,” Sable wrote.
The post of employee of the FBK was a reaction to Safonov’s interview , which appeared on December 7 in the Rossiyskaya Gazeta. In it, the official said: "The need for the beach and the sea is a largely imposed stereotype of recent years, which we already perceive as our own opinion. Our ancestors, even wealthy, did not go massively to the foreign seas."
“My ancestors did not go to the waters,” the head of Rosturism continued. “They were ordinary peasants, plowed. At the same time, they raised normal children and were healthier than we are now.”
