The price of Brent oil shortly after 16:30 Moscow time fell below $ 40 per barrel. This is evidenced by Forex market data. A few minutes later, Brent scored several cents in price, rising again in price just above $ 40, but almost immediately fell in price.
The collapse of oil cost occurred in an hour. At about 15:00 Moscow time, the Brent barrel cost about $ 41.4, but by 16:00 he lost $ 1 in price. In the next half an hour, the fall continued, although it became less swift.
Soon after 17:00, the cost of a barrel of Brent rose again. As of 17:11 Moscow time, it amounted to $ 40.13.
The fall in the price of Brent has led to the respective increase in dollar and euros. The dollar came close to the mark of 70 rubles, but did not reach it, and after 17:00 dropped to 69.77 rubles. The euro by the same time overcame the 76-ruble mark.
According to Lenta.ru, such a low barrel price of Brent has been fixed for the first time since the beginning of 2009, when the world financial system has experienced a crisis. According to Gazeta.ru, the fall of world oil prices is due to the results of the OPEC meeting, at which it was not decided to change the existing quota for the production of this fuel.
