"Grani.ru" will be awarded in France

Today, December 11, in Paris, a rewarding of the winners of the prize of the French Republic for contribution to human rights “Freedom - Equality - Brotherhood” will be awarded. A special mention of the jury of the award was awarded the Russian Internet Gazeta "Grani.ru".

The Prize “Freedom - Equality - Brotherhood” has been awarded to individuals or organizations, regardless of their nationality or state borders, for a specific contribution to human rights in France and beyond its borders.

Every year CNCDH chooses two directions in the field of human rights protection. This year, these areas were “Internet” and “environmental protection”.

Five organizations from Pakistan, Colombia, Mexico, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo are declared award laureates, the Grani.ru was among the diplomatians.

“The project is aimed at combating censorship and political repressions in Russia, conducting an information campaign to attract the European public attention to human rights issues, supports independent media and Russian bloggers. In March 2014, Grani.ru , as well as Kasparov.ru and Ej.ru, were included in the Roskomnadzor in the Unified Register of Prohibited Information and blocked by Russian communications operators. Roskomnadzor explained the blocking of these sites by the fact that they published “calls for illegal activities and participation in mass events conducted in violation of the established procedure.”
