The fight began after deputy Oleg Barna from the BPP faction, who collects signatures for expressing no confidence in the government, approached the podium and presented Yatsenyuk with a bouquet of red roses, then “grabbed him [the prime minister] and carried him out from behind the podium,” the publication writes. After that, deputies from the Popular Front faction ran up to Barna and began to beat him, and deputies from the BPP joined the fight.

The meeting was suspended.

Yatsenyuk himself said from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada, where a meeting is being held on the results of the government’s work over the past year, that he is ready to leave his post if the deputies decide so.

“Put and vote. I will accept the decision of the Ukrainian parliament. I don’t hold on to this chair,” the prime minister said.

“I took full responsibility for the most unpopular steps in our country, which no one has taken for 20 years. And when I went to this position, I knew what would happen to my rating, I knew it. I didn’t come here for my own political rating, I came here in order to carry out reforms and that was the rating of our country,” Yatsenyuk said.

The issue of Yatsenyuk's possible resignation has been discussed in recent months. The prime minister's opponents accuse him of failing to carry out effective economic reforms. Among the most notable critics of Yatsenyuk was the Odessa governor, ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili. The day before, he said that only an imitation of reforms was taking place in Ukraine .

Yatsenyuk himself admitted the mistakes of his cabinet and announced resignations in the government in November following the results of local elections.

The Kommersant newspaper, citing sources in President Poroshenko’s administration, wrote that as a result of the October elections, Yatsenyuk could be dismissed .

As Interfax-Ukraine reports , about 500 people have now gathered near the walls of the Verkhovna Rada and are demanding the resignation of the government.
