Ildar Dadin was sentenced to three years in prison for "repeated violations of the procedure for holding mass events." He became the first convicted under Article 212.1 of the Criminal Code. Dadin's defense filed a complaint with the Constitutional Court demanding that this norm be recognized as unconstitutional, but he himself pleaded not guilty. Later it became known that the lawyers appealed the verdict to their client. In addition to Dadin, activists Mark Galperin and Vladimir Ionov are under the same article. Amnesty International called Ildar Dadin a political prisoner, and Memorial International demanded his release.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has recognized Russia's violation of the right to life. The ruling of the ECtHR in the case of the kidnapping of Khasan Sagaev and Rasul Mukaev states that the Russian Federation violated Art. 2 of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. Sagaev and Mukaev, according to their relatives, were detained in Chechnya in 2000 and 2004 respectively by Russian servicemen. “The circumstances of their detention, as well as the subsequent disappearance, allow us to assert that they were deliberately and unlawfully deprived of their lives by agents of the state,” the case file says.

76-year-old activist Vladimir Ionov was admitted to intensive care in a pre-infarction state. Ionov's heart problems began on Monday evening, after returning from the trial of Ildar Dadin. “People were thrown out of the court into the street, laid on the ground with their heads,” explained his friend Olga Braun. Mikhail Khodorkovsky has been charged in absentia with organizing the murder of Nefteyugansk Mayor Vladimir Petukhov, another murder and attempted murder of four more people.
