Punished for clearance

The Komi Supreme Court sentenced the former vice mayor of Pechora Vyacheslav Smagin by 1 year 3 months of a general regime on charges of disclosing state secrets (part 1 of Article 283 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by the Komi prosecutor's office. It is forbidden to occupy certain bureaucratic positions for an additional punishment for Smagin for two years after the release.

54-year-old Smagin was taken into custody in the courtroom.

There were four episodes in Smagin. According to the prosecutor's office, the official "by virtue of his previously held posts" had data that constituted state secret. In 2011-2014, the department continues, Smagin continues, "flaunting his awareness and intending to give significance to his person", at least four times informed this information to the persons for whom it was not intended.

As the Red Banner reported , Smagin was detained by the FSB on May 25. He was removed from his post and placed under house arrest. The next day, the official resigned from his post.

According to a source in the city council, Smagin could have access to state secret only many years ago when he himself served in the FSB. Now, according to the interlocutor of the publication, the acting The mayor Anton Tkachenko needed to get rid of the officials that were objectionable to him. “This is a classic hook on which it was kept all these years and which was put into business when the need came,” the source concluded.

In early June, however, BNK reported that Smagin wrote a confession.

The accusation in the process was personally supported by Komi prosecutor Sergei Bazhutov.
