The activities of the Communist Party of Ukraine are prohibited

The district administrative court of Kyiv banned the activities of the Communist Party of Ukraine. This was reported on the court website. The lawsuit filed by the Ministry of Justice of the country was satisfied in full. As a third party, Valery Lutkovskaya, authorized by the Verkhovna Rada of Human Rights, participated in the process.

As the KPU website says , earlier on Wednesday, the Kiev Appeal Administrative Court rejected the party’s lawsuit against the Ministry of Justice. According to Interfax-Ukraine, we are talking about four claims considered in the framework of one production. The Communist Party tried to prove the groundlessness of the accusations put forward by the Ministry of Justice of the inconsistency of its activities and the authorized documents by the Law on Decommunization.

The lawsuit of the KPU Minister of Justice Pavel Petrenko filed a lawsuit in July 2014 . He explained that he had made a statement after the analysis of the evidence base, which was presented to the department, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the SBU. According to the minister, it was about the support of the Communist Party of the annexation of Crimea, Russian aggression in the Donbass and Priazovye, as well as pro -Russian sentiments in other regions of the country.

In 1991, the Verkhovna Rada banned the activities of the Communist Party, but in 2001, to the presidency of Leonid Kuchma, the Constitutional Court canceled this ban. This decision was argued by the fact that the Communist Party of Ukraine is not the successor of the CPSU and the Communist Party of the Ukrainian SSR as its component.

On October 1, 2015, the District Administrative Court of Kiev banned the activities of two other Ukrainian Communist Parties - the Communist Party of Ukraine (updated) and the Communist Party of Workers and Peasants.

On July 24, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine forbade the Communist Party to take part in the electoral process and political life of the country. The decision was made on the basis of the law on condemning the communist and Nazi totalitarian regimes and the ban on their symbols. According to Minister Petrenko, all three Ukrainian Communist Parties "in their activities, in the name, in symbols, charter and program do not meet the requirements of the law."
