Nadezhda Savchenko went on a hunger strike until the end of the trial

Ukrainian pilot Nadezhda Savchenko announced during the trial that she would start a hunger strike on December 18, which she intends to keep until the end of the trial. This was announced on December 17 by her lawyer Nikolai Polozov. According to him, Savchenko demands release. After the verdict, Savchenko will go on a dry hunger strike, the lawyer said.

On December 17, the court extended Savchenko's arrest until April 16, 2016, granting the prosecution's motion. The defense considered the extension of Savchenko's detention unlawful and challenged the court.

Lawyer Mark Feygin, commenting on the hunger strike announced by Savchenko, expressed the hope that the question about it would be asked during Vladimir Putin's press conference.
