The Ministry of Justice for the first time revealed the costs of the Russia Today TV channel

The Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation announced the expenses for the Russia Today channel: Goskanal, broadcasting to the foreign audience last year, cost 11.7 billion rubles. The expense report for 2014 was published on the website of the ministry, reports Slon . In 2015, due to the growth of the dollar exchange rate, expenses increased significantly.

As follows from the report of the Ministry of Justice, for the year the autonomous non-profit organization TV-News, which controls RT, spent 11.7 billion rubles on broadcasting in English, Arabic and Spanish. The budget for financing the channel provided for 11.87 billion rubles.

At the same time, in 2012, RT cost more expensive: the company spent 12.9 billion rubles.

In 2015, RT was supposed to give 20.8 billion rubles, but the Ministry of Finance allocated only 18.2 billion, Slon notes.

According to Vedomosti , in 2016 the channel will receive 19 billion rubles.

Russia Today was launched in December 2005. He currently broadcasts on the World Audience in English, Spanish and Arabic. Margarita Simonyan has been the editor -in -chief of the television channel since its founding.

This year, Simonyan already complained in the commentary for Vedomosti that, due to the fall of the ruble, RT had difficulty: “About 80% of RT costs in currency. We have concluded contracts with foreign distributors that we also pay in currency. If we tear these agreements ourselves, we will have to encounter foreign courts ... In 2015, our budget was increased by only 30%.”
