A man detained on suspicion of drug trafficking was found hanged in a Saratov detention center

In the Volzhsky district of Saratov, in the temporary detention center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the city, during a daytime round, a 35-year-old detainee in a drug trafficking case was found hanged in one of the cells (clause “d” of part 4 of article 228.1 of the Criminal Code).

As reported on the website of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Saratov Region, the detainee was found dead yesterday around noon. Presumably, the man committed suicide.

“Police officers immediately provided first aid to the victim, but the man’s life could not be saved,” the police department said in a statement.

Due to the incident, an internal investigation has been launched.
