The FSB detained the mayor of Feodosia for participation in a criminal group that extorted money from businessmen

FSB officers detained the head of the administration of Feodosia, Dmitry Shchepetkov, and his deputy, Makar Makarov, reports , citing a representative of the FSB department for Crimea. Interfax

Shchepetkov and his deputy were allegedly part of a criminal group that extorted money from businessmen.

At the same time, Crimean prosecutor Natalya Poklonskaya told TASS that the head of the administration and his deputy were detained in a case of bribery on an especially large scale (Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code). “The case was initiated against members of the group who extorted money from an entrepreneur for creating favorable conditions for business. This group includes the head of the municipality and his deputy,” the prosecutor said.

Dmitry Shchepetkov became the head of the administration of Feodosia in December last year. Before this, he would have been the acting head of the city for about a year. Makarov has worked as Shchepetkov's deputy since April 2014.
