The activist was found guilty of calls for extremism and separatism, including via the Internet (Part 1 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code, Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code and Part 2 of Article 280.1 of the Criminal Code), for a single picket and publications on the social network VKontakte.

The prosecutor asked that Polyudova be sentenced to three and a half years in a penal colony. Polyudova does not admit guilt and calls the persecution political.

Polyudova spent six months in a pre-trial detention center; this term is considered to have already been served in the court verdict. As human rights activist Pavel Chikov notes , if the sentence is not overturned by a higher court, Polyudova will have to independently come to the colony-settlement. She remains free until the sentence comes into force.

The case against the activist was opened after an attempt to hold a “March for the federalization” of Kuban; she was accused of separatism. Another episode in the case is a repost made on July 16, 2014, with calls for a socialist revolution and “going to the square.” The third episode concerns a post on a social network criticizing President Vladimir Putin. During the debate, Polyudova noted that she did not call for violent actions.
