The story of the 21-year-old Yezidka, who managed to escape from the fighters of the IG: Time
The Islamic State (prohibited in Russia) is conducting a campaign for “violent circulation” in Islam of the Yezidov - the Kurdish nation, mainly living in northern Iraq. The Yezids profess a religion close to Zoroastrianism, the IS militants consider them wrong. In recent years, in the north of Iraq, several thousand Yezids have died at the hands of the militants, and the abduction and sale of Yezid women has been practiced within the framework of “violent circulation”. At the UN, the “Islamic state” in relation to the Yezidov is considered genocide. The Time magazine correspondent Charlot Alter publishes the story of Nadia - an Yezid girl who managed to escape after the abduction of IG.
Nadia (the full name of the girl - Nadia Murad Bazi Tah) is 21 years old. In August 2014, the Islamic State seized her village in the north of Iraq. Nadia says that she lived in the village with her mother, brothers and sisters, and I heard about the atrocities only on television, until one day she saw militants on the street.
The girl told how on August 15, 2014 the militants drove all the inhabitants into the school building. There men were separated from women. For an hour in front of women, men (according to the UN - 312 people) were killed. After some time, the Kurds conquered the village and discovered a grave in which about 80 elderly women were buried - obviously, their militants were considered unsuitable for theft into slavery.
The rest - mainly young and attractive women - were taken to Mosul occupied by the Islamic State. There they spent three days, after which they were “distributed” between the fighters of IG. Women were photographed - the pictures were hung on the board along with the phones of the militants, whose property they were now considered. The militants could sell women, exchange them, dispose of them at their discretion as property.
Nadia recalls how a very large man once entered and pointed to her. Having beaten, he separated her from his nephews and led her to the exit. There she ran into another man - a less impressive physique - and persuaded to bargain her. In the house of this man, she stayed until November 2014. Nadia says that he had a wife and daughter, he prayed five times a day.
Once, a man ordered Nadia to dress up and make up - and raped her. When she first tried to escape, she was caught. The man beat her and took her into the room, where six militants were raped in turn.
In November, Nadia managed to escape - to slip through the remaining unlocked door. The girl does not disclose the details of the escape - according to Time, for the sake of the safety of tech who helped her to escape. It is only known that she was able to get to the refugee camp and from there under the help program got into Stuttgart.
Charlot Alter talked with Nadia in New York, where she was brought as a witness: the girl performed in the Security Council with a story about the crimes of the “Islamic state” against the Yezids.
In 2014, the militants stole more than 5,000 Yezids, at least 3400 (almost all women) are still in captivity. Several thousand people were killed, 400 thousand became refugees. On the territory of the "Caliphate" there is a slave system. Non -Muslim women are sold into sexual slavery, rape are encouraged: many in IG believe that after rape by ten Muslims a woman can be considered “converted to Islam” (English.).
