Ecologist Evgeny Vitishko left the colony

Kuban ecologist Evgeny Vitishko, convicted in the “case of damaging a fence,” was released from a colony in the Tambov region. “Ecological Watch for the North Caucasus” reports this on its Twitter.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Tambov Regional Court upheld the decision of the Kirsanovsky District Court of November 10 to replace Vitishko’s remaining term of stay in a penal colony with restriction of freedom. The court satisfied the appeal submission of the prosecutor's office only in terms of determining the place of serving the sentence (restriction of freedom). Vitishko will serve the rest of his sentence in Tuapse, where he lived. Once a month he will have to report to the Tuapse district inspection, and he will not be allowed to change his place of residence.

Ecologist Evgeny Vitishko was convicted in the “case of damaging a fence” at a property that was called the dacha of the then governor of the Krasnodar Territory, Alexander Tkachev. In December 2013, Vitishko’s suspended sentence was replaced by three years in a penal colony.
