The company "Yandex.Money", engaged in Internet payments, commented on the new US sanctions.
“The sanctions list includes subsidiaries of those enterprises that were included in it earlier <...> The sanctions themselves prohibit activities to attract various types of financing from the United States, such as loans and the issuance of bonds. Yandex.Money does not carry out this activity,” the company told Novaya Gazeta.
Earlier on Tuesday, it became known that the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on several Russian companies, as well as enterprises located in Crimea.
In addition to the Yandex payment system, the list includes VTB 24, Genbank, Mosoblbank, Inresbank, Krayinvestbank, Sberbank, and Rostec.
In total, the new list of sanctions included 34 legal entities and individuals.
The United States first imposed sanctions against Russia in March 2014, after the annexation of Crimea to Russia and the outbreak of a military conflict in eastern Ukraine. Since then, the sanctions have been extended several times, and the number of companies and individuals on the list has increased.
