The US introduced new sanctions against Russian companies

The US Treasury Department has expanded the list of Russian and Ukrainian companies subject to economic sanctions. The order is published on the agency's website.

The restrictions affected companies, a large share of which belongs to Sberbank, Rostec and VTB, which were previously subject to sanctions. The US authorities blacklisted several banks, including VTB 24, Genbank, Mosoblbank, Inresbank, Krayinvestbank, and the Yandex.Money service. The companies Aviapriborostroenie, Sovremennye Tekhnologii, United Engine Corporation, Oboronprom, Aviation Equipment, Research and Production Association ALLOY, and Rosoboronexport fell under the sanctions.

Sanctions have also been imposed on several Crimean companies, including the Azov distillery, the Yalta film studio, and the Massandra agricultural association. In total, the new list of sanctions includes 34 legal entities and individuals.

For the first time, the United States imposed sanctions against Russian individuals and legal entities in March 2014. Restrictions related to the military conflict in Ukraine and the annexation of the Crimean peninsula to the Russian Federation affected Russian state corporations, as well as those close to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Since then, the restrictions have been extended several times. At the moment, US sanctions have been imposed on 49 Russian companies, 87 individuals, as well as structures of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics.
