Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov commented on the introduction of new US sanctions.
The Kremlin believes that these restrictive measures are a continuation of the “unfriendly line towards Russia”, which has a “destructive effect on bilateral relations.
Russia will prepare measures in response to the expansion of the US sanctions list, Peskov assured.
“Of course, based on the principle of reciprocity, the Russian side will first analyze these decisions and then they will accumulate proposals for possible countermeasures,” TASS quoted the Kremlin speaker as saying.
The period during which a decision on countermeasures will be made, Peskov did not name. According to him, Putin and the government of the Russian Federation will take part in the discussion of this issue.
On Tuesday, December 22, the United States expanded the list of Russian individuals and organizations against which sanctions were imposed in connection with the conflict in Ukraine.
