The law prohibits all forms of domestic violence, including insults and other forms of psychological pressure, which facilitates the process of obtaining court decisions in this area.

Earlier in the PRC there were no laws regarding domestic violence - this problem was ignored so that - in accordance with Chinese traditions - not to publicize intra -family problems.

According to the All -Chinese Federation of women, almost a quarter of them are subjected to violence in the family annually, only 40 to 50 thousand of them file official complaints.

Answering a question about the situation in cases with same -sex partners, a member of the commission on the legislation of the All -China Assembly of People's Representatives (Parliament) said that the authorities know nothing about this form of violence. Homosexuality in China is not prohibited by law, but same -sex partners are not legal.
