Volodya (Vladimir Petrovich Galitsyn, born in 1962) - a beautiful, healthy man, a former teacher of physical education. In the eighties he wore a dashing hairstyle, had an athletic physique, loved to work with children. He married Tatyana, whom he met at school, where she studied at “B”, and he is in the “A” class. Then, on the second of May, Volodya after lunch went out to smoke behind the fence of his one -story house.

“The neighbor passed by, mine went with him to sit, smoke a cigarette,” Tatyana recalls. - After a few minutes, another came up. I went out and called Volodya to return to the table, they had not yet had time to eat the cake and drink tea. Go back, I say, the family is waiting. ”

The next time Tatyana saw her husband already with a broken head and in a state of the deepest coma.

As the investigation established, the neighbors called Vladimir Petrovich to drink with them, but he, refusing, quarreled with them and went home to the family. At this moment, he was hit on the head with a blunt object (presumably, an iron pipe) and caused a severe traumatic brain injury.

“He did not expect any danger, this is our neighbor, his own man. Well, they had a fight, they spoke something else there, but he’s his own,-looking at the floor, says Tatyana. - turned and went home, and he from his back, but on the head ... "

The fortune of Vladimir was so serious that 24 days after the attack he was in a state of artificial coma until the local doctors decided to get rid of a hopeless patient.

“They have some of their own standard, they explained to me in the hospital,” says Tatyana, “you can’t occupy a bed in intensive care for more than 24 days. So they said - if you want to extend his stay in a coma, pay. I didn't even ask how much. Probably, if I asked, they would call me an exact amount. But I did not ask. And when they began to get it out of a coma, an apart struck happened, and he, well, as if to explain it more precisely, hovered between a coma and life. ”

For three years now, Vladimir has been completely paralyzed and chained to the bed. Legs and arms became thin as knitting needles, only the skin and bones, the stomach fell, the probe stuck out of the nose for feeding, in the neck of the tracheostoma, and a medical suction is near the bed. In a lying patient, you can hardly find out the former handsome man from family photographs. Sometimes Vladimir begins to cough and suffocate, then Tatyana with the skill of an experienced nurse turns on the device and helps her husband gets rid of sputum, which does not come out of the lungs. The lower lip is snapped, the hair has become rare and short, only the eyes move in Vladimir.

“I don’t know if he sees me and hears me, but I always talk to him like a person. Yes, Volodenka? Yes?" - says Tatyana loudly, leaning to the bed and looking her husband right into the eyes. Vladimir blinks twice, then one, then the pupils begin to walk from side to side.

“When we were discharged from the hospital, they were sent to a boarding school. He lay there for another 22 days, I came to him constantly, but there was no concern for him there. He was lying in a common chamber with others with the same sick, and took care of him only occasionally. Then I realized that I had to take my husband home. But how!? What will he lie on, how will he eat, how to wash it, how to go to the toilet? I did not know anything and did not know how.

I was in a trance, I was completely alone, I was very scared, I did not understand what to do, where to go, ”Tatyana tells about the time after the attack on her husband. - I did not understand who we need, who will help us. Friends, who also have a lying relative, talked about Karitas’s patronage service, well, I called. And there they already taught me and how to change Volodenka, how to feed him, how to wash, they supported me all the time, reassured, brought a bed with a mattress, help diapers and diapers. And we bought the suctioner ourselves. ”

Whether Vladimir is conscious or not, it is so to the end and it is not clear to doctors or his wife.

Leaving the Galitsyn house, I look out the street. Here Vladimir smoked with a neighbor. Here, through the house, this neighbor lived. Now he was in prison, awarded him three and a half years and five hundred thousand compensation. Three years of the deadline have already passed, he will soon be free and will again live in a neighboring house. Again it will walk past the window of the room in which the crippled Vladimir lies. Half a million rubles, of course, did not return. He has no work and property, and he refused to work in prison.

I look at all this and understand that everyone has such a neighbor. I understand that everyone could smoke with him that day. And everyone could get a pipe on the head.

Go to the toilet in six months

In Russia, on every street and in every house there is a lying patient. Moving along Ishim, you can leave one house and enter the neighboring one, and there will certainly be a ward of the Karitas patronage service. But lying patients are not only old people. In Ishim, I visited the young Azamat, the only one of all to whom social protection provided a land chair just a month after he got into an accident. But this is most likely for the reason that in the house where Azamat lives with his father, and before with his wife (who threw him immediately after he became disabled), there is simply no soul or toilet. Convenience only in the yard. Trying to imagine it for myself. In winter. In Siberia. From the second floor. Lying patient.

I also visited 54-year-old Valery Skorobogatov, not at all an old man. Half of his body is paralyzed, but with the help of his wife and employees of the patronage service he tries to walk with a cane around the room.

There was also 56-year-old Nikolai Nikolayevich Menshikov, who had an accident of a former engineer of the road construction department.

It is a shame to realize that every sixtieth resident of Ishim has been waiting for elementary assistance from the state for months. Joy and hope brings the idea that help still comes. And two fragile employees of the Karitas patronage service, Irina and Alena, bring it in a small Siberian city.

Only during working hours

In Omsk, on one of the streets on the ground floor since 2011, paralyzed Galina Tikhonovna Pirogova lies, who worked for 36 years a paramedic in a city hospital. Galina Tikhonovna Parkinson and progressive muscle atrophy. Of the relatives in the city, only a sister with a severe oncological diagnosis, who is not able to monitor and care for Galina Tikhonovna, would save herself. The body of Galina Tikhonovna does not obey, the muscles almost do not work, there are almost no voices, only a quiet whistle is heard, sometimes similar to howling. In a one -room apartment there is a bed brought by the Caritas patronage service, next to the bed - a nurse of Margarita from social protection.

“And we wrote about the bed, but we didn’t give us,” says Margarita.
- Why didn't they give? I ask.
-Something is wrong with the documents.

I look at an individual rehabilitation plan with seals and signatures of members of the medical commission. Galina Tikhonovna is not laid, but two diapers are relying per day. A couple of years ago, when the muscles obeyed a little more, Galina Tikhonovna, with the help of Margarita, could slowly walk around the room, sit, turn over from her side to her side, and that was not the bed. But muscle atrophy is that progressing that after a few years the human body ceases to be active and mobile and completely loses the ability to move.

“Are you all day with her?” - I ask the nurse.
- No, I am from 9 to 17. So the state pays. 141 ruble 96 kopecks per hour. And at 18 she needs to take pills and eat, another nurse comes to her, but for money. She has to pay this out of her pension. And soon the holidays are New Year's holidays, so I will not work at all ...
“But the disease will not leave, how will it be alone here?”

In response, the nurse shrugs. I understand her, she is not to blame for how the attitude of the system towards people works, she is only a screw in this system.

But you will imagine so so that somewhere lies a lonely woman, who is completely alone for more than half a day, has the opportunity to call or click on an alarming button, which, however, is not at all in sight. A woman who tries not to drink much in order to save diapers, because the state considered that she, Galina Tikhonovna, will be enough to go to the toilet twice a day, a woman whom the state does not give a bed, which is not taken to the boarding school, which has lived a long life ... And now it can only dream of death. And he probably dreams, calls, waits, remaining every night alone in his apartment.

Ten thousand human souls

The main thing that the employees of the Caritas patronage service do is give hope. The hope that when any of us overtakes misfortune, they will come to the rescue. See you dryly, then employees of the patronage service teach relatives to care for lying patients, lease them for rehabilitation means-chairs, beds, mattresses and so on, until the state does this for them. They visit patients, inspect, consult. And if we say not dryly, then they do a much more important work, they inspire hope for life. Encouraging. They give to fade away life.

The Caritas patronage service has been working for ten years. It works not only in Ishim and Omsk, but also in Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg, Tikhvin, Saratov, Volgograd, Chelyabinsk, Barnaul and Novosibirsk. This year, two more cities with symbolic names were added - Marx and Engels.

For a year, about ten thousand people receive assistance in all centers. Ten thousand such as Galina Tikhonovna and Vladimir Petrovich. Ten thousand people with their personal history, life, hopes and fears. Ten thousand human souls. Living souls. In 2015, the patronage service received 25 thousand appeals and provided 36 thousand services.
