Clients of Russian travel companies, excluded from the federal register on the grounds that they are associated with Turkish business, began to refuse trips.
“I received information from travel agents and tour operators that people are calling who want to cancel tours with departures after the New Year, starting from January 2. They are afraid that they will not be allowed to fly away in peace, that problems may arise and they will lose money, ”said Irina Tyurina, spokeswoman for the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT).
According to Tyurina, it is impossible to return money for a ticket a few days before departure - in this case, 100 percent fines are applied. “The situation is, of course, unprecedented. People can try to sue and demand compensation, but it will be a long process with an unpredictable result, ”said the PCT spokeswoman.
“Tour operators excluded from the register by Rostourism confirm their readiness to fulfill all their obligations for sold tours,” Tyurina said.

- Rostourism on December 30 excluded 19 legal entities from the register of tour operators on the basis of a government decree that prohibits Turkish companies from engaging in tourism activities in Russia. Companies from the Pegasus and Coral Travel groups, as well as Anex Tour Moscow, were among those excluded.
- Irina Tyurina called the decision of Rostourism unreasonable. According to her, there are no Turks among the founders and leaders of Pegasus and Anex. “Once they were founded by Turkish citizens, but they are long gone, and legally they are not present in any way. Rostourism clearly ran ahead of the locomotive and did not figure it out, ” said the press secretary of the PCT.
- Tyurina also said that after the decision of Rostourism, panic began on the market. “Rostourism perfectly congratulated the Russians on the New Year, creating almost a panic in the tourism market. We are called from different cities by tourists who are interested in the fate of paid tours, and travel agencies who do not know what to answer tourists, ”said Tyurina. She expressed bewilderment at the fact that companies were excluded from the register during the peak winter season, when tourists go on vacation in droves.
