Former mayor of Sergiev Posad was detained in Serbia on the warrant of Interpol

The Serbian Police on the Order of Interpol detained the former mayor of Sergiev Viktor Bukin, TASS reports . In Russia, he is accused of extorting bribes.

According to the Serbian police, on December 30, 51-year-old Bukin was detained in the city of Novi-Sad, where he had been constantly living recently.

"The embassy received information about the detention of Viktor Bukin. We expect an official notification from the Serbian side," the Russian embassy said in Serbia.

A source in Russian investigating authorities also confirmed the detention of the ex-mayor. "Official confirmation of his detention came to Russia, now a pre -operation procedure should begin - confirmation that it remains on the wanted list, the materials necessary to start a solution to its extradition," the source said.

In May 2014, Bukin became the mayor of Sergiev Posad, winning the election.

In July 2015, the Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Kostroma Region opened a criminal case against Bukin under part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code (receiving a bribe with extortion on an especially large scale). In January 2014, the Arbitration Court of the Moscow Region decided to recover from the Sergius-Posad administration in favor of a construction company about 47.8 million rubles in debt to pay for the work performed under the municipal contract. The company rebuilt the right to demand a commercial organization in the Kostroma region. According to the investigation, in May 2015, Bukin demanded that the director of the company transfer him through the intermediary, the head of the legal department of the administration of Sergiev Posad, half the amount.

In June 2015, part of the funds was transferred to the company’s account - 14 million rubles. On July 10, the intermediary came to Kostroma, received 6 million and was detained by the UFSB officers. On July 11, the Sverdlovsk district court of Kostroma arrested him. A criminal case was opened against the intermediary under part 4 of Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code (mediation in bribery on an especially large scale).

After that, Bukin left Russia. In December 2015, at the written appeal of the mayor, the Council of Deputies of Sergiev Posad satisfied his request for early reservation.
