Russia beat Denmark in overtime at the World Junior Hockey Championship

The Russian national team defeated the Danish team in the quarterfinals of the Youth Ice Hockey World Championship. The match ended with the score 4:3. The Russian team equalized in the last minute of normal time and scored the winning goal in overtime.

The Russians, the undisputed favorites of the match, opened the scoring in the 3rd minute of the meeting, but in the second period the Danes equalized the score and then took the lead. In the middle of the third period, the Russian team bounced back, but two minutes later Denmark scored the third goal. The Russian hockey players managed to level the score 44 seconds before the end of normal time, when they replaced the goalkeeper with the sixth field player.

The Russians scored the winning goal at around 5:00 extra time - exactly in the middle of overtime.

• The Russian national team reached the quarterfinals of the World Youth Ice Hockey Championship from the first place in the group, having won all four matches of the group stage - with the Czech Republic, Finland, Belarus and Slovakia.
• The Danish national team took fourth place in the group, having lost three of four matches. The Danes lost to Canada, Sweden and the United States. Their only victory was over the Swiss national team, which took the last place in the group.
