
In the process in the case of the Ukrainian pilot Nadezhda Savchenko, the chairman of the Donetsk city court Leonid Stepanenko refused to introduce the protocols of the interrogations of witnesses to the case. According to the correspondent of the Faces, according to the defense, these documents confirm that on the day of the death of Russian journalists there was a battle between the two military units.
"The fire was not carried out by civilians, as the investigation claims, but by legal - in the sense of the Geneva Convention - military purposes. According to the group of armed combatants, separatists, among whom was Kornelyuk and Voloshin. This is an important circumstance to establish the truth in the case," said Ilya Novikov lawyer.
The judge also refused to attach to the case the materials of the investigation of the Ukrainian SBU on the abduction of Savchenko.
Meetings in the Donetsk City Court resumed after a three -week break. The stage of presentation of evidence is continuing the defense.
On December 18, Savchenko announced a hunger strike, achieving liberation from custody. She made her statement after the prosecutor’s petition to extend her in custody for another three months - until April 16, 2016. Despite the demarche of the accused, the judge's collegium satisfied this request.
Being under investigation, Savchenko held hunger strikes twice. The first of these shares was long - it lasted 82 days, from December 13, 2014 to March 5, 2015. The second hunger strike was held in April - May. Both times, Savchenko terminated her shares, without having achieved the result.
Savchenko is charged with points “A”, “E”, “l” of part 2 of Article 105 (the murder with a generally hazardous way of two or more persons based on political hatred, perfect by a group of persons), part 3 of Article 30 are paragraphs “A”, “E”, “E”, “L” of Article 105 (attempt on the same crime) and part 1 of Article 322 of the Criminal Code (illegal crossing of the border). The pilot threatens up to 25 years in the colony. She does not admit her guilt.
As stated in the case, Savchenko, after the start of Russian aggression in Ukraine, who served in the Aidar volunteer battalion, on June 17, 2014 handed over the coordinates for artillery shelling to the battalion, as a result of which the VGTRK employees Igor Kornelyuk and Anton Voloshin died. The accusation explains the inclusion in the case of an episode of the assassination attempt on the murder by the fact that other civilians could die as a result of this shelling. It is also stated that in the future Savchenko illegally entered the territory of Russia, where she was detained.
In fact, Savchenko was captured by the LPR militants even before shelling, during which Korneluk and Voloshin were killed, and was illegally taken to Russia, where the case was fabricated against her.
Hearing on the merits of the Savchenko case began in September 2015. On December 4, the official representative of the TFR Vladimir Markin did not rule out that Savchenko’s sentence will be harsh .
