The Orthodox television channels "Savior" and "Union" stopped cooperation with Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, Interfax reports . “Father Vsevolod no longer leads the program with us,” the SPAS was told on the television channel. The same was stated on the Soyuz television channel. At the same time, the interlocutors of the agency did not explain the reasons for the refusal of cooperation.

For several years, Chaplin conducted on the TV channels the copyright programs "Eternity and Time" and "Comment of the Week".

On December 24, 2015, Chaplin was dismissed from the post of head of the Synodal Department for the relationship between the Church and Society by the decision of the Synod. His resignation in the official statement of the Patriarchate was explained by the abolition of the department headed by him, which was united with the synodal information department.

After that, Archpriest gave several interviews to various media, including Echo of Moscow, Rain and Snob. In them, he explained his dismissal with disagreements with Cyril. According to Chaplin, the Patriarch "ceased to understand that he was a collective project," and now "he will not last long." "I think that this is a contradiction between faith in personal charisma and the surrounding reality will only intensify," said the priest.

Cyril, for his part, said that he was “shocked” by Chaplin’s statements. “20 years of trust and fidelity. And suddenly! I can justify only with a mental breakdown,” the head of the Russian Orthodox Church remarked.

On December 29, Chaplin was shifted from the post of deputy chairman of the World Russian People’s Cathedral. At a meeting of the VRNS Presidium, he was invited to voluntarily leave the post, to which the priest refused. He accused Patriarch Kirill, the head of the cathedral, of unwillingness to listen to other people's opinions. After Chaplin’s refusal, he was shifted by voting. The decision was made unanimously.
