The poet Ashraf Fayyad, a Palestinian living in Saudi Arabia, was sentenced by a Saudi court to the death penalty for religious exploration. The list of accusations is extensive: from slander on the prophet and the spread of atheistic views to storing photos of women on a mobile phone. On January 14, more than 100 poetic readings in support of Fayyad were held around the world. They read poetry in Moscow, in the Sakharov Center.
