Why, in fact, is a “disgusting eight”? Because not a “magnificent seven”, but something opposite. In addition, this film is at Tarantino - the eighth in a row, and the number 8 is hidden in the adjective Hateful (h8ful). What is the difference that the author himself, no matter how tries, cannot limit the number of actors to the same eight? Fans will help reduce the score. I myself went to the October cinema, where, on this occasion, a film projector was heroically installed on
70 mm to watch the film the second time in this delightful format-and specially bought tickets for January 8 at 8 pm in the 8th row. Then he realized that the eight is actually a symbol of infinity. How endless the snow desert is, along which the unsuspecting heroes of the film in his first frames rush towards death.
Death with a sequel
The ill -wishers (and Tarantino at Tarantino every year, like new fans), they’ll quarrel: they say, endless films, as much as possible! The “disgusting eight” really lasts three hours, is divided into six chapters and is in no hurry. But from the first film, Tarantino from the first film offered his viewer to enter into a conspiracy - to enjoy the process, not the result. It is not without reason that the plot of “criminal reading” is so mockingly chopped and twisted that in a beautiful ending, he only approaches the actual middle and the dead jokesly rebel from the coffins to continue the rock and roll dance for Chuck Berry.
By no means a frivolous mockingbird, the reputation of which the director accidentally created in the 1990s, and a real pop philosopher, Tarantino invites us to the space of postulture and sorcereriya. Everything has already happened there, and many times. The phases of the tragedy, farce and absurd confusion have been passed. Therefore, this universe is tailored from quotes (it is impossible to identify them even if you wish) and it makes no sense to wait intensely to wait for the denouement. Only if you do not send the laws of the genre and stories to hell, as the director entered the “inglorious bastards”-where the Jews arranged a terrorist attack and exploded Hitler at the height of the war, and in the “Dzhango freed”-where the former slaves enthusiastically linked the sadist-tarters.

But how much can you fantasize? In the “disgusting eight”, Tarantino for a while forgets about alternative history and blockbusters. He returns to the stage of his early cinema, to spoken conventionality and the dramatic restraint of the “frantic dogs”, to the closed space and the dominance of dialogue over the action.
A few years after the end of the Civil War in one tavern, lost among Wyoming snow, random wanderers are found. Almost like in a joke: one bustle hunter, one cowboy, one woman, one Englishman, one Mexican, one black, one old man, one sheriff. Almost everyone is lying who he really is, and those who are telling the truth are still suspected of lies. The author also instills: the heroes seem to be eight, but there is also a coachman plus Joker in a deck, hidden from eyes to time. That is, not so much eight as “ten blacks” who will, no doubt, get out of the game one after another. In a situation of bad infinity of other ways to get to a denouement, simply does not exist.

Tarantino's film is as cold as vioming landscapes

Old acquaintance: Michael Madsen as a cowboy
Revenge is served cold
The seeming lack of content, protractedness, narcissistic rejuvenation with their own wit (qualities inherent in even the best paintings by Tarantino) obscure the normal question: what is the “disgusting eight” about? Let's start with what is silent about here: about revenge, which occupied Tarantino for four in a row. The bride was a revenge on Bill, the feminist-cascaders-the patriarchal maniac, the inglorious bastards-the fascists, freed by Dzhango-white oppressors ... It seems that Tarantino was finally despaired in his search for spectacular justice, possible only in the cinema, but not in reality. As stated in the title, all the heroes of his new picture are equally disgusting, these are not at all the pretty “inglorious bastards”. By the final, the fragile audience hopes for someone's decency turn out to be finally dispersed, and this is worse than those megalithras of the butacher blood that Tarantino habitually floods the screen. The disgusting eight is a film about the dark side of the human nature, to the study of which the director, for all the declarative caricature of the method, is very serious.
Thunder, nicknamed the Westerner (impressive Kurt Russell, to whom Tarantino gave the second screen youth) is taking the town of Red Rrook the villain Daisy (one of the best roles by Jennifer Jason Lee), chained into shackles. His random fellow traveler, Major Warren (habitually virtuoso in every replica and gesture, Samuel L. Jackson), was caught by a blizzard, like the newly-naked sheriff of Red Roka Chris Mennix (Walton Goggins): once he and Warren and Warren fought each other in war, but the surrender of the south forced the former enemies to the world. Having reached the establishment called “Galanteree Minnie”, instead of his holders - Minnie herself and her husband Sweet Dave - the travelers meet four strangers (ancient acquaintances Tim Roth and Michael Madsen, Mexican Demien Bishir and veteran of the acting workshop Bruce Dern). In each of them, the hanger suspects the accomplice of Daisy.
The character of a company, a dull executioner in a pot and with a business card holder in a pocket, gives a whole lecture on the difference between self -guess and organized justice. He, trying to avoid Swara, jokingly divides the space into the “southern” and “northern” part - there will be a Georgia, at the Bar - Philadelphia. But the border is violated immediately, and justice is blind. Behind the local plot with a criminal shower, a political metaphor gradually appears. "Minding Eight" is a ruthless film about the device of America the day before yesterday, today and tomorrow. The lawyers here are as bloodthirsty and biased as the robbers from the high road, and the gallantry of stiff southerners means no more than the rude simple -minded northerners. In practice, one is always a wild beast to another, and human rights were given to them only then, so as not to kill each other at the first meeting.
Without obvious regret, parting with the role of an infantile moralist, the matured Tarantino puts on sterile gloves of the satyagnost.

Something and strangers
Of the numerous references of the “disgusting eight” the most elegant - to the horror of John Carpenter “something” with the same Kurt Sryel. Ennio Morricone wrote music for him; Unused topics were taken by Tarantino to his picture and complemented by new ones (the soundtrack, which has just received the honored Golden Globe, is really excellent). The last shots directly refer to the final “something”, hinting that the only character radically different from the rest of the film - the woman’s captive - was thereby alien evil from space, which destroyed, freely and involuntarily, the rest.
Take a hurry to blame Tarantino of feminine (remember his previous films); The heroine is only a catalyst. An association immediately arises with another masterpiece of Carpenter of the 1980s, a fantastic anti-utopia “Alien among us”-about the aliens who seized the land. Ordinary citizens of America, it was worth looking at them through unusual lenses, turned out to be enemies, the invaders of our planet, subject to instant destruction. Is the psychology of a participant in any war so act? Including, as the "disgusting eight" shows, the war is formally completed. Recognize the enemy by an alien, and it will become much easier to lower the trigger. In this sense, the Tarantino film is a great accurate picture of social bitterness, which can only expect the United States on the eve of the presidential election, and Russia has been overwhelmed by Russia a long time ago. This was included in the author’s tasks or not, but we have a surprisingly timely film, with all carefully recreated attributes of the past era.

The most brilliant image of a “disgusting eight” is a sacred artifact that reminds of the cherished gold watches from the “criminal reading” (we will not call it to avoid spoilers). At the climax, this item is a skillful fake. When the last islands of nobility and reason go from under the legs, everything that remains survivors is as if nothing had happened to return to this false shrine. Because if not she, then only pistols, handcuffs, knives, other guns of murders and torture will remain. Cinema Tarantino did not become less cruel over the years, but his cruelty, finally, became fully conceptual. A sketch in crimson tones, the finale among the cooling corpses, under the howls of an evil blizzard outside the window. As if out of habit, it was shot with an elegiac intonation of the Happy End. The pacifying heroic music behind the scenes, a skillfully taken frame ... The frank fraud of the viewer through cinema, forcing for a few seconds to forget about Tarantino sarcasm and how endless human baseness is.
