Putin invited the Emir of Qatar to discuss joint positions in the energy sector

Russia and Qatar have a need to discuss cooperation in the energy sector, especially in the gas industry, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

“There is a need to talk about interaction and coordination of positions in the energy sector, especially in the gas sector,” he said on Monday at negotiations with the Emir of Qatar Tamim al-Thani.

In addition, Putin expressed his intention to discuss investment cooperation with the Emir of Qatar.

The Russian President recalled that Moscow was expecting a visit from the Emir of Qatar back in the fall of last year.

In turn, al-Thani said that he was glad to visit Moscow and agreed with the words of his Russian counterpart that the two countries have common interests in the energy and gas industries.

He also noted Russia's role in current events in the Middle East region.

“We want to develop relations with Russia and find solutions to problems regarding stability in some countries in our region,” continued the Emir of Qatar.
