The IAAF Commission will visit Moscow again

The Commission of the International Athletics Federation (IAAF) will make another visit to Moscow in two weeks, said the President of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF) Dmitry Shlyakhtin. “The previous visit was on 13-14 [January], so the next one will be in two weeks, that is, at the end of January,” Shlyakhtin said.

On January 11-12 in Moscow, the IAAF Inspection Commission studied documents related to the reform of ARAF. The commission includes its chairman, Norwegian Rune Andersen, IAAF council members Abbie Hoffman from Canada, Italian Anna Ricciardi, Namibian representative Frank Fredericks and Jeff Gardner (Norfolk Island).

They will present the results of their work in a report that will be sent to the IAAF Council. The IAAF Council will consider the report at a meeting in Cardiff on March 27.

In early January, the IAAF Ethics Commission disqualified former ARAF President Valentin Balakhnichev for life. Also banned for life from the sport are former IAAF consultant Papa Massat Diack, the son of ex-president of the association Lamine Diack, and former coach of the Russian track and field endurance team Alexey Melnikov. The former head of the IAAF anti-doping department, Gabriel Dollet, has been suspended for five years. Sports officials are accused of extorting bribes from athlete Liliya Shobukhova for the right to participate in competitions, despite positive results of doping tests.
