Russia and Qatar plan to hold a meeting of the intergovernmental commission with the participation of business representatives in 2016, since investment cooperation is one of the priorities in the relations between the parties, TASS reports. This statement was made by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov following talks in the Kremlin between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.

According to Lavrov, the leaders of the two countries agreed to strengthen and deepen cooperation in a wide range of areas in the future, despite the modest volume of trade turnover.

"The leaders of our countries also instructed to hold another meeting of the intergovernmental commission this year and gave instructions to ensure closer involvement of business circles in this work, relying on the already established ties between the Russian Direct Investment Fund and the Qatar Investment Agency," Lavrov specified.

According to him, Russian companies, such as Gazprom , Lukoil , and Russian Railways , are ready to consider cooperation with Qatari partners with great interest.
