About seven in the evening, a young man with a pile of freshly printed square posters went through metal detectors on the Tver Boulevard - with the image of a crossed swastika and crossed bombs. It was Artem Loskutov, the artist and organizer of “monsters”, rallies with absurd slogans. He was immediately met by the police worried by the swastika and took him to the boss. The head of the posters were not embarrassed, Loskutov was missed. He managed to arrange the entire procession: the participants quickly grabbed the posters and raised over their heads. Almost no one brought other images; One man stood with a sheet on which it was brought out: "Around there is suddenly some enemies."
Instead of posters, many held in their hands the black and white portraits of Markelov and Baburova.
Lawyer Stanislav Markelov (participated in the affairs of the attacks and murders of the anti -fascists; in the Budanov case on the side of the family to be -tortured Russian troops Elsa Kungaeva; Mikhail Beketov’s chief editor of Khimkinskaya Pravda) and the journalist of Novaya Gazeta Anastasia Baburova ( wrote about youth extremist groups) were killed 19 January 2009. For about three days they left the building of an independent press center on the Prechistenka, in which a press conference in the case of Colonel Budanov was held. On the street behind them, a member of the “combat organization of Russian nationalists” (BORN) Nikita Tikhonov approached them and fired three times - first in the head of Markelov, then in Baburov. Markelov died on the spot, Baburov - in the evening in the hospital.
Formally, the crime is disclosed, the guilty are punished. Only in the winter of 2014, in court of the creator of Born Ilya Goryachev, will Tikhonov say that “letting the trigger felt the support of people influential people”, referring to the allegedly existing patrons of the organization in the administration of the President of Russia (Medusa talked about the court over Goryachev). Prior to this, in 2011, the court sentenced Tikhonov to a life imprisonment. His girlfriend Evgeny Hasis, who helped in the organization of the murder, by the age of 18. In 2015, the life sentence also received Goryachev.
On the evening of January 19, 2009, to the place of murder on the Prechistenka, where investigators had not yet finished working, people began to bring flowers and candles. The first street actions of the murdered memory were held. Late in the evening of that day, several dozen anti -fascists held an unauthorized procession under the slogan "We will not forget, we will not forgive."
Since then, each year, the organization of memory shares has been engaged in the “Committee on January 19”. Anti-fascists, LGBT activists and many oppositionists go to the annual procession against fascism in all manifestations. Most often, shares were accompanied by a large number of police, but calmly. True, in 2010, real snow battles occurred between participants in the procession and OMON employees: police officers were thrown in pure ponds with snowballs and pieces of ice.
In 2016, the “Committee on January 19” explained the need to go out into his appeal. It said that a little has changed from the day of the murder: “Now the state not only allows you to kill people who are not consonant with its politics, but also fabricates criminal cases of invented occasions - today in Russia it has become the norm to send people to prison for their thoughts and beliefs,” and “the search for enemies replaced the country with a policy, public life, economics and culture.”
About 500 people listened to their call - this time among them there were noticeably fewer young people than in previous years. They gathered at the beginning of Tver Boulevard. They, as in all previous years, met dozens of OMON employees.

Before the start of the procession, the audience stood in small groups. They talked more about their own. Three women discussed the recent initiative of the State Duma deputies - to punish citizens for manifestations of "non -traditional relations" in public places. “And all suddenly became gay! All gay! I'm gay! At all!" - one of them was indignant. Several people with rainbow flags passed by at that moment. “Yes, and you know, Irina Konstantinovna was going to go out with the Ramzan poster today, I will not stand in front of you on my knees,” but decided to stay due to the cold of the house, ”said the other.
Two young people talked about the upcoming rally of the memory of the former deputy prime minister of Russia Boris Nemtsov, who was killed in 2015. “I came here, but I won’t go there, I don’t want to go to every action to kill every thief,” he said. “Good people do not work for the state.” “By the way, I work for the state,” a friend told him. After that, both fell silent.
Nearby, two men with the icons “Freedom to Prisoners of Bolotnaya” discussed the recent defeat of the “People’s Memorial” at the site of the murder of Nemtsov. A man with a large backpack ran up to them, took out a bag out of him. “I have a responsible assignment for you,” he turned to one of the interlocutors. “I'm afraid I can't handle it,” he answered. “You can handle it, you are a man. Here, donuts, eat until the end of the procession, check. ” The received donuts decided to try them right there, but did not have time - the procession began.
Young anti -fascists lined up ahead, they stretched the banner “Yes, death fascism!” And went forward along the boulevard. Throughout the way, the participants of the procession came across cardboard snowmen, which were not removed after the New Year holidays, still burning corridors from luminous garlands, horses, sheep, grandfathers of frosts, giant berries, half -wrapped rollers. Many obstacles going through this strip fell into the snow.
To the usual slogans "Stas and Nastya had to live!" And "Down with fascism, homophobia, sexism!" The chanting "Kadyrov kills, Putin covers!" Closer to the middle of the road, the procession participants began to shout "No war!" And "Russia without Putin!" They also skipped the names of the dead anti -fascists (Alexander Ryukhin, Ivan Khutorsky, Ilya Japaridze) and some convicts in the “Swamp case” (Alexei Gaskarov, Leonid Razvozhaev).
At the end of the Gogolevsky boulevard, the organizers through the megaphone announced the completion of the procession and offered to lay flowers to the place of murder one at a time. A long queue lined up to the house No. 1 on the Prechistenka.
