Two explosions occurred near a restaurant on the beach in the Songkhla area in southern Thailand. According to preliminary data, seven people were injured, one woman died.

A hand grenade exploded outside a karaoke restaurant on Soi Sawan Beach in Thailand on Monday evening, reports the Bangkok Post .

As a result of the explosion, a Thai citizen died; her identity was identified by the police. Seven more people were injured.

Shortly after the first explosion, a second explosion occurred 10 meters from the scene, but no one was injured. The scene of the incident was cordoned off by police officers, law enforcement agencies began an investigation, and the motive for the attack is being established.

As the Bangkok Post notes, law enforcement officers previously warned of possible attacks in cities and tourist areas of Thailand.

At the end of last year, Reuters reported on a document that appeared on social networks - an official warning from the Russian FSB sent to Thai intelligence services. The document talked about 10 Syrians who entered Thailand in October 2015, of whom four went to the island of Phuket and two to Bangkok. As indicated in the FSB warning, all of them are associated with the Islamic State banned in Russia.

Later, the head of the Thai bureau of Interpol said that there is no reason to believe that the Islamic State is preparing terrorist attacks at resorts in Thailand against Russians.

In August 2015, an explosion killed more than 20 people near the Erawan Hindu Temple in Bangkok. The country's authorities said the explosion was not a terrorist attack. The country's police said that the incident was the revenge of a criminal community for the destruction of a network that organized illegal migration into the country.
