The Center for Assistance to Minorities of the North was fined 300 thousand rubles under the law on foreign agents

In Moscow, the non-profit organization Center for Assistance to Indigenous Peoples of the North was fined 300 thousand rubles under the law on “foreign agents,” lawyer Ilnur Sharapov, representing the interests of the Center, told Gazeta.Ru. The decision was made by the Nikulinsky District Court of Moscow - the court found the organization guilty of violating the procedure for the activities of an NPO performing the functions of a foreign agent. According to Sharapov, the decision will be appealed in the near future. The Ministry of Justice included the Center for Assistance to the Peoples of the North in the register of NGOs - foreign agents on November 27 last year. Last September, the director of the Center, Rodion Sulyandziga, was unable to fly to New York for a UN conference on indigenous issues because border guards at Sheremetyevo Airport took his passport and returned it with a page cut out. An administrative case was initiated against Sulyandziga for damaging a document.
