According to preliminary data, a 33-year-old man froze to death near the village of Allakurti. His body was found inside a car on January 17. As FlashNord clarified , citing a source in law enforcement agencies of the Murmansk region, during the examination, no visible injuries or signs of violent death were found on the body of the deceased. According to eyewitnesses, the man shivered for several days, but he did not call an ambulance. At the border, he waited for his turn to pass through the checkpoint for 5 days. Other media wrote that the man “did not wait for permission to enter Finland.”

Finnish President Sauli Niiniste, in turn, noted: “I am surprised at what kind of permission they are talking about. At least, definitely not about the Finnish permit.” According to the president, information in the Russian media gives the impression that the man was waiting for some kind of permission or guide. In this regard, the question arises about the existence of some kind of system of paid guides, that is, the incident bears the features of human smuggling. If the information is confirmed, then, according to the president, it raises serious concerns.

According to S. Niinist, more and more people are coming to Finland from the relatively calm regions of the Middle East. At the same time, he draws attention to the number of nationalities among asylum seekers who arrived in Finland. “The situation, which increasingly resembles a great migration of peoples, is being actively discussed by the government. We noticed that people from almost 30 countries came to Finland, that is, among the arrivals there were representatives of 30 nationalities. “We are clearly not talking about migration caused by the war in Syria and Iraq,” he added.
