The widow of Alexander Litvinenko, Marina Litvinenko, called on British Prime Minister David Cameron to introduce visa restrictions and personal economic sanctions against “all persons identified in the case, not excluding Nikolai Patrushev and Vladimir Putin.” As reported by The Guardian , she made such a statement to journalists in front of the London courthouse.

Litvinenko also called on the government to expel all Russian intelligence officers from the UK.

On Thursday, January 21, Judge Sir Robert Owen announced his decision following a public hearing in the case of the death of ex-FSB officer Alexander Litvinenko. In the report, which the judge prepared over almost six months, he concluded that the murder of Litvinenko in London was “probably approved by Mr. [Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai] Patrushev and also by [Russian] President Vladimir Putin.” At the same time, the judge ruled out that Litvinenko took radioactive polonium-210 by accident or with the intention of committing suicide. The court named former FSB officers Alexander Lugovoy (now a State Duma deputy) and businessman Dmitry Kovtun as the probable perpetrators of the murder.
