US Ministry of Finance: Putin is corrupt

Vladimir Putin is corrupt, and the American authorities know about this "long-long years." Such a statement was made by the official representative of the US Treasury Adam Shubin in the BBC film "Putin's secret wealth."

In the US Ministry of Finance, Shubin is overseeing the issue of sanctions. The American authorities have previously imposed sanctions on many close to Putin, but personally the Russian leader is publicly accused of corruption for the first time.

“We saw how he (Putin. - Ed.) Enriches his friends, his close allies and excludes those who do not belong to his friends and do not hold public positions,” Shubin remarked. “Whether the energy wealth of Russia, whether it is other state contracts - he redirects this to those who, as he thinks, will serve him, and selects those in whom this is corruption.”

Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the BBC statement of the American official as follows: “None of these questions requires an answer, since they are all a pure fiction.”

The BBC notes that American officials are reluctant to talk about Putin’s wealth, but Shubin agreed to take part in the film.
