The design of the new Moscow metro station unexpectedly reminded of the great Dutch avant -garde

The 199th metro station is called Rumyantsevo-by the name of the nearby village, a business park is also next to it. It is located on the first, oldest metro line - Sokolnichesky, between the Troparevo and Salaryevo stations (not yet open): the exit from the station leads to the Kiev highway, already beyond the Moscow Ring Road.
Rumyantsevo designed the design and design bureaus Inzhproekt OJSC Mosmetrostroy. The interior of the station - both walls and stained glasses - is decorated in the spirit of painting of an outstanding Dutch artist, ancestor of abstractionism of Ped Mondrian. Mondrian is considered the founder of neoplasticism. Colored flaps, separated by black stripes, turned out to be a great idea for swimsuits. The mass market also did not ignore abstractionism: even Topman did Mondrian T-shirts. This motive in clothing is so common that in the fashion industry the word mondrian began to denote any print of colorful rectangles, even if it is designed in delicate pastel gamut.

Mondrian set himself the task of understanding and embodiment of the “world soul”, dreaming of forming a new type of society with the help of painting. With visual means, he declared planes of primary colors (red, blue, yellow) in their interaction with the planes of “non -flowers” (white, black and gray). The composition was to be built on the principle of contrast, from which balance and harmony were born. The colors for him carried a symbolic meaning, and the horizontal and vertically sent to the structure of the universe. In his works, Mondrian was able to achieve the effect of “spatiality”, which makes it at first glance simple compositions with deep and mysterious artifacts, unsolved to the end. Thanks to the ambiguity of Mondrian's abstractions, it is possible to direct their direct transfer to space - sculpture, installations, design, interiors, architecture.

As far as I remember, Mondrian did not like green colors, he often has yellow-red-black ... But we can say that we worked based on Mondrian. Initially, the idea was completely different: the station was planned as a pedestrian trading street. He left the train and got into the street - you move from home to the house, the walls were finished like windows and shops and shops, the doors of the buildings. But the option did not pass, and since something had to be done, we came to the option a la Mondrian.
We really did not want to do something poorly and pale-according to the principle "well, once on the outskirts, it will do it." In addition, there is a Rumyantsevo business center, painted in red-raspberry vertical stripes and gray panels, so we brought red spots into the appearance of the station.
And for the subway, the style does not matter. That he was Mondrian - he needs so that the dirt does not stick, the dust does not sit down and there is no scratch.
