Those arrested in the “February 26 Case” had their detention period extended until March

The Supreme Court of Crimea extended until March 8 the detention period for those arrested in the “February 26 Case” - Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Akhtem Chiygoz, accused of organizing mass riots, and Mustafa Degermendzhi and Ali Asanov accused of participating in them.

This decision was made on January 25, reports Grani.ru . RU". At the same meeting, motions to dismiss the case were rejected (despite the statement by lawyer Alexander Solodkov, representing the interests of Degermendzhi, that the events of February 26, 2014 in Simferopol, imputed to the defendants, occurred on the territory of Ukraine and cannot pose a danger to the Russian Federation), as well as about the video broadcast of the trial (only close relatives of the accused were allowed into the hall).

All the accused - in addition to the three who are in the pre-trial detention center, Eskender Kantemirov, Eskender Emirvaliev (they were both in custody before, but were released on bail) and Arsen Yunusov - pleaded not guilty to the riots. Kantemirov, Emirvaliev, Yunusov and Asanov stated that on February 26, 2014 they fought with the opponents of the Maidan, but they do not consider this to be riots. According to investigators, Chiygoz instructed the Crimean Tatars to attack representatives of the Russian Unity movement.

Previously, two sentences were handed down in this case: the former cameraman of the Crimean Tatar TV channel ATR Eskender Nebiev, who fully admitted his guilt and concluded an agreement with the investigation, received two and a half years probation, and Talyat Yunusov received three and a half years probation (did he admit his guilt and concluded agreement, unknown).
