Lawyer Ivan Pavlov emphasized that the prosecution was incorrectly. It says that Sharina "distributed extremist literature", but it is not indicated what actions. She was charged with paragraph "B" of part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code (excitement of hatred or enmity committed using its official position) - a composition for which the code provides for up to five years of the colony. On December 14, searches took place in the apartments of the library of Anna Pavlyukova, Tatyana Muntean and Vitaly Krikunenko. On the same day, President Vladimir Putin said that he knew nothing about the matter of Sharina. At a meeting of the Presidential Council for Culture and Art, literary critic Alexander Arkhangelsky turned to Putin with a request to intervene in the fate of the director of the library. “The first time I hear about the detention and house arrest, I just can’t even comment, because I don’t know what it is about,” Putin said. The president promised to find out the circumstances of this case.
At the same time, Putin said that the library should be preserved even in the context of an exacerbation of Russian-Ukrainian relations. “What we should definitely pay attention to is the library. It should not be lost in any case,” the president emphasized.
